What we do
We carry out non-destructive testing on cranes and lifting equipment, working alongside specialist crane service companies. Where a thorough examination under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) calls for testing that the eye can’t do, Testa provides the non-destructive testing element
Cracks in welds and load-bearing components are often invisible until they have grown. Non-destructive testing finds them early, without damaging the equipment or taking it out of service for longer than necessary.
Methods we use
We use three methods:

Visual Testing: identifies surface cracks, corrosion and wear

Magnetic Particle Inspection: detects surface and near-surface defects in crane boom welds and localised repair areas

Ultrasonic Testing: measures thickness and detects flaws in load-bearing structures and components such as shafts

Written Reports
Each inspection includes a detailed written report with photographs, defect maps and clear recommendations. Reports can be supplied to the crane service company and the equipment owner
