UT Test

Ultrasonic Testing

Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is a non-destructive testing technique that uses beams of mechanical waves (vibrations) of short wavelength and high-frequency, transmitted from a small probe and detected by the same or other probes. The technique detects internal, hidden discontinuities that may be deep below the surface.

UT Weld Test

UT is utilised in a broad range of settings, from thickness measurements of steel tanks via rope-access on oil refineries, to weld inspection on butt and nozzle welds at fabrication engineers. We have a vast amount of experience, including, but not limited to - ultrasonic weld inspections of butt welds and nozzle welds on high pressure steam systems at power stations, ultrasonic thickness surveys on gas terminals, offshore installations and FPSO's, to UT on rides at amusement parks and weld inspection of critical welds on famous London landmarks.

At Testa, all the NDT technicians we use, are qualified to industry recognised PCN (personnel certification in non-destructive testing) in accordance with BS EN ISO 9712.
