Phased Array

Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) is an advanced non-destructive testing method that can be used for a wide range of different tasks.

Widely used in several industrial sectors, such as construction, pipelines and power generation. PAUT uses a set of UT probes made up of numerous elements. Each of these is pulsed individually with computer calculated timing to create the phased aspect of the process, while the array refers to the multiple elements that make up a PAUT system.

Due to the possibility to control parameters such as beam angle and focal distance, this method is very efficient regarding defect detection and speed of testing.

At Testa all of our NDT technicians are qualified to industry recognised PCN (personnel certification in non-destructive testing) in accordance with BS EN ISO 9712.

We can provide PCN-qualified technicians to carry out PAUT on welds or components, indentifying the exact location of any flaws within the weld, as well as determining the thickness of any component/pipeline and determine any corrosion on the inside of pipelines.

The advantages of PAUT include: increased flaw detection, on-site inspection, faster inspection speeds, provides a permanent record, more reliable results and increased safety.
